Title: Oil filter adapter? Post by: MYMONSTER on October 26, 2013, 12:29:43 PM Where can I get the 16Mx1.5 to 3/4-16 adapter?
Thanks Mike Title: Re: Oil filter adapter? Post by: Heath on October 26, 2013, 07:50:08 PM Why not just buy the filters that fit your bike?

Title: Re: Oil filter adapter? Post by: oldndumb on October 27, 2013, 02:00:44 PM Don't know if this company has what you are looking for but, if not, you could contact them and submit a request.
http://balestech.com/filter.htm (http://balestech.com/filter.htm) Heath, the OP obviously is aware of the standard fitment. He probably wants an alternative, and is not soliciting an oil filter debate. Title: Re: Oil filter adapter? Post by: MYMONSTER on October 29, 2013, 11:29:33 AM Was reading about folks doing that to slap on more readily avail filters. I wanted to see what an adapter was like as I would think using it becomes a structural issue with the pressures involved. Figured for $10 I can see if this is a POS way of doing thing or just continue using the wix or K&N I normally have ordered . In my experience the ducati OEM filter is shite would leak unless you wrenched down the other two hand right and a little bit more holds well.

Serious question...how do you achieve more than hand tight without a wrench? I can see making the mod to be able to use more available filters, but having to tighten a filter a bit more hardly seems worth the expense of a different filter adapter. That is just me...YMMV. Title: Re: Oil filter adapter? Post by: MYMONSTER on November 02, 2013, 07:11:28 AM You take it to the dealer to say hey this leaks after you changed the oil. Out comes the wrench and the monkey hangs in it. Leak stopped, get it off will be a pregnant dog next time.

It is much tighter than most can achieve byhand tightening (8 ft lbs), but they really aren't that hard to take off in my experience. Any filter wrench will work, and I always have to use one on filters on other vehicles that are installed hand tight.Good luck finding an adapter. Title: Re: Oil filter adapter? Post by: oldndumb on November 02, 2013, 09:19:57 AM Well, unless he turned it himself, someone was able to source an adapter. Don't know if he is around anymore to answer questions?

Post by: oldndumb on November 02, 2013, 01:58:56 PM Guess we can color him, long gone. Unfortunate that he referenced the adapter he was using but failed to provide the source. Maybe I ought to do some remedial reading and try turning one myself, but I really do not like turning SS. If someone is really interested, they ought to just call the company I linked in an earlier message. I know that they made a lot of their adapters for the Suzuki crowd.
