Title: Belt change 2v m600
Post by: Radracer6 on November 01, 2013, 12:52:12 PM
Hey just did a belt change. Used the marking belts method. If I messed up the timing I would know as soon as I cranked it right?

Always best to spin it slowly by hand first, in gear, rotate rear wheel, with the plugs out. That method will allow you to know if things aren't okay before a catastrophe.

But... short answer... Yes, you would know as soon as you cranked it.

iirc, Chris Kelleys ducatitech site has a guide.

LT Snyders books cover it very well for the older models.

How did you set belt tension?

By hand. Then ran a 5mm Allen bw belt and idler puller and made sure 6mm didnt fit

When all 3 marks on the 3 wheels line up w the 3 marks on
heads & cyl, you're all good, can't go wrong.
But do rotate 2 full after adjutment turns w/o plugs by hand to b sure nothing binds.
