Title: ST2 Headlight bulb question Post by: d3vi@nt on November 10, 2013, 01:05:00 PM Time to upgrade the bulbs in my ST2. High beam is a standard 12V-55w, but the low beam is described as a 12V-55w "poly-ellipsoidal with capacitor". What the heck does that mean? Is that specific to the headlight unit, or specific to the bulb? I'm not sure what exactly to look for for the low beam.

Maybe edit the title to "ST2 headlight bulb question" and they should chime in. Oddly enough, it was the same bulb number as my 1994 Chevy Cavalier. That gave me all the basic automotive options like ExtraVision, SilverStar etc. it's currently got a Silverstar in it and it works quite well.

Thanks for that.Maybe edit the title to "ST2 headlight bulb question" and they should chime in. From what I gather, it sounds more like the particular headlight configuration, nothing to do with the bulb. Seems odd, though, because the low beam is pretty dim versus the high beam considering the bulbs are the same wattage. I was able to source a new plug end at the autoparts store & splice it in. If the bulb output seams low that could posibly be the issue.
