Just bought a 2007 695 and, during the course of solving an electrical issue, noticed a plug that is not connected to anything. I've attached a link with pictures showing the location of the plug and a close up of the plug itself. I initially thought it may be for ECU diagnostics but there is another plug under the tank that is directly connected to the ECU.
Any idea what this is for? I plan to cap it off assuming it shouldn't be connected to anything.

There are several test leads but that doesnt look like one to me. Inspect and get a copy of the wire diagram. Wires are color coded.
Looks like the plug for the O2 sensor.
I'm no expert, but my guess would be the line for the O2 sensor. I have two plugs in that area on my M695. One is definitely the O2 sensor, the other I can't easily tell. I have a FatDuc O2 manipulator plugged into the O2 sensor line.
If SuzyJ is around, I'm sure she would know as she's turned her M695 wiring into a work of art (and science).
Ok, so if it is the O2 sensor plug, I'm assuming the other end of it (the sensor end) is supposed to be plugged into the exhaust at some point? I don't see any point in the exhaust where a wire/sensor is connected. Which means the pictured end should make its way to the ECU?
Apologies for my very basic understanding of this. This bike does have aftermarket Termignoni exhaust btw.
O2 sensor. The termi exhaust probably came with no sensor.
As far as I can tell the bike doesn't seem to be running too lean/rich. Should I just cap it off and forget about it?
If you can, contact the previous owner and find out what was done to the bike. You probably have a Ducati Performance computer and no O2 sensor (great upgrade) and no need for that wire.
