Title: Top triple verification
Post by: seanster on December 05, 2013, 10:11:03 AM
Hi guys/gals,

I'm in need of some confirmation in regard:

I have a 749 complete top and bottom triples (believe it's 53mm top and bottom) and planning to fit that into a 748 frame...from my knowlege that will work right?

However, I have searched around and a guy (http://www.ducati.org/forums/999-749/7440-999r-street-fighter-superhypermotard-2.html (http://www.ducati.org/forums/999-749/7440-999r-street-fighter-superhypermotard-2.html)) fitted a Multistrada top triple onto his 999R (which basically the same as my 749 triple correct?).  Can you please tell me if this is accurate?  I'm planning to sort for a Multistrada top triple and do that as well.  I'm concern about fitments.  If you see anything wrong with my logic please let me know.

thanks!

Are they the adjustable or non adjustable?  I know the non adjustable for 748, 749 & 848 all use the same stem.  The adjustable steering stem is a different length though.

How can I tell if they are adjustable or not? Thanks

Take a look at the steering head on your 748. If there is a set screw and an eccentric, it is adjustable and will not accept the standard stem. My '98 was adjustable. AFAIK - the early and S or R models were adjustable, the later and base model 748's were non-adjustable.
