Yeah, yeah.. I've been MIA. It took almost a year for me to find another job. I finally got one. And well... yeah at least I have a job. But then, I got the job, then some woman BACKED UP INTO MY MOTORCYCLE AND DRAGGED HER THEN JUST DROVE OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily, her ass didn't get away with it.. SOMEONE WROTE HER PLATE DOWN AND PUT IT ON MY STRICKEN BIKE (goddess bless you...) Anyway, now I have a well deserved check. My bike is at a shop but my friend is saying keep the check and he can do most the work himself if I can get the replacement parts. Hoping you can help me find where to get them? Things I need:
Well let me just list it. One addional thing.. I'd like to get the swingarm powder coated black... but someone told me it would cheaper for me to find a black one? Any advice would be great!!! 62640071C 1 CLUTCH LEVER 620-800 MONS/03 06400121 1 MIRROR HINDSIGHT LS L 58610441CW 1 FUEL TANK ORANGE/BLACK STRIP 36010451B 1 HANDLEBAR 46410551A 1 LH FOOTPEG 1198S/09 55610132A 1 SIDE STAND 45620361A 1 PEDAL, GEAR CHANGE 88641881A 1 X-RING 107.32X5.34 150-0035 1 BAR END REMUS 09-DUC 1 LH SLIDER Title: Re: "The Tangerine Dream" is dead. Flea Market forum here and eBay for starters. Good Luck! Title: Re: "The Tangerine Dream" is dead. LONG LIVE THE TANGERINE DREAM!! Post by: Dirty Duc on December 08, 2013, 08:37:27 PM What's your budget? Are you talking rebuild to perfection or are you talking "I need my bike back ASAP and my tank is leaking it's scuffed so bad?" How broke are the current parts?
I have well-used parts from the same year and color. They are far from pristine, but they all work. I do not believe the tangerine red color came on a metal tank (but I would be happy to be proved wrong). Title: Re: "The Tangerine Dream" is dead. LONG LIVE THE TANGERINE DREAM!! Post by: MsTek on December 09, 2013, 06:08:30 AM There is snow on the ground and I am not a winter driver so it can be worked on over the winter. This is where my friend is going to teach me how to work and repair my own bike. :D
The tank I am the MOST worried about. IT HAS TO BE REPLACED. I'm fairly certain I'm going to have to get someone to custom paint it for me to go back to what it was. Surely that is possible? A few years ago, I thought I saw aluminum tanks going for $2k. THAT IS TOO MUCH!! Oh yeah, I need to replace the rear shock too. I'd like to get a nice ohlins if I can. She's not stock anymore- has arrows on her. But this is the time for me to do the rest of the improvements if I want to do them. I'd like to have some money left over for a new helmet and maybe some leathers so I can finally try a track day/ride earlier/later in the season. I just don't understand why Ducati won't replace the tank. Title: Re: "The Tangerine Dream" is dead. LONG LIVE THE TANGERINE DREAM!! Post by: ChrisK on December 09, 2013, 06:28:17 AM I recently put Renthal black handlebars on mine, found them brand new on ebay for something like $60. I love them.
For little things like foot pegs, side stand, etc. I'd start by pricing them on Ducati Omaha's OEM parts store. If you don't like what you see, then scour ebay. Good luck! Title: Re: "The Tangerine Dream" is dead. LONG LIVE THE TANGERINE DREAM!! Post by: Dirty Duc on December 09, 2013, 06:29:35 AM I just don't understand why Ducati won't replace the tank. Because of the settlement. They were doing "good faith" replacements, but they are now only replacing to 5 years old and only tanks that have no other damage and are swollen so badly as not to be latch-able with the "hinge" mod.I have a tank that is serviceable, but needs paint and sealed. Minimal swelling because I rode the hell out of it and I live in Arizona. I can take pictures later today if you are interested. Title: Re: "The Tangerine Dream" is dead. I'll call them but when I was going to get here serviced before the accident, I was going to ask about that. But now tank dented. Title: Re: "The Tangerine Dream" is dead. Post by: Dirty Duc on December 09, 2013, 04:53:24 PM Can you seal a tank that has already had gas in it? It is my understanding that you can seal a tank that has completely dried out (and possibly cleaned?). I have not done this, because I am going a different direction and my tank only recently has been dried.Caswell's site says, "All traces of oil and gasoline should first be removed by pouring about 1 pint of acetone or lacquer thinner into the tank, and rotating the tank several times to thoroughly sluice the sides with solvent. Dispose of the contaminated solution." http://www.caswellplating.com/restoration-aids/epoxy-gas-tank-sealer.html (http://www.caswellplating.com/restoration-aids/epoxy-gas-tank-sealer.html) It's entirely possible that I am wrong, and I know there has been some speculation that the PA-6 is permanently damaged by the infusion of water... I make no comment on that as I am not a materials engineer, but I do not recall any such speculation presented by a material engineer (that I know of). Title: Re: "The Tangerine Dream" is dead. LONG LIVE THE TANGERINE DREAM!! Post by: Moronic on December 10, 2013, 10:52:25 PM MSTek, are you aware that MotoWheels is doing an aluminium fuel tank for this model.
Link: http://motowheels.com/i-14890144-ducati-monster-s2r-800-1000-m620-695-aluminum-tank.html (http://motowheels.com/i-14890144-ducati-monster-s2r-800-1000-m620-695-aluminum-tank.html) $2K and then you have to paint it, so may be outside your budget. However ... solves the swelling issue for good in one hit, and you have something special. Plus they hold a bit more. Anyway, just a heads-up. (No commercial connection.)
