Title: Battery relocation. Resistance?
Post by: memper on December 13, 2013, 10:07:07 AM
I am in the middle of making a fiberglass seat/tail. The idea is to put as much of the electronics (battery as well) in the "cafe style" hump.
Should I keep the coils under the tank area with normal length spark wires? Or could I put them in the tail?

Would I run into resistance problems if the ignition modules were in the tail as well?

In a perfect world I want to put the battery(8 cell) coils, igniters, and solenoid in the new tail unit.
Suggestions on what to do about the possible resistance issues I might face with this mod?

Keep in mind coils produce heat and you are putting them in a container.  More wire at an increased gauge also equals weight, anti cafe.

Great links! Thanks Howie.
Didn't consider the heat. So I think I will make a small bracket for the coils to sit in the tank recess.
Not too worried about added weight from wires. It will balance out plus more from everything else it's loosing/has lost. But I get what you're saying. It adds up.
