Title: MT-03 Headlight Mod Post by: AKducati on December 13, 2013, 09:25:42 PM So I got tired of my stock headlight's output and threw an HID projector into an MT-03 headlight. The light output is incredible and (while expensive) was well worth it. I ordered all the parts from theretrofitsource and off Ebay and the total ended up around $400-$450. It adds a bit of the streetfighter look, but I'm really liking the aggressive, unique front end. And sorry for the piss quality pictures, I'm using my phone.

I demand more pictures of the headlight on the bike. Did you take any pictures during the retrofit process?

Ignore the digital display's crookedness, it's just held on with zip-ties right now. The projector is a bi-xenon projector at 35W and 5000k Kelvin. The high beam is the projector plus an LED H1 light mounted above it which gives lots of light at both close and far distances.

Not caring much for the light output on my Evo. Even with bright ass bulbs it sucks at night. Maybe the new 2014 headlight will fit.......

Maybe the new 2014 headlight will fit....... It might! I don't know why there aren't more options for HID headlights for our EVOs. There would definitely be a lot of buyers for them with our stock light output. Title: Re: MT-03 Headlight Mod Post by: Novelo on December 18, 2013, 05:22:18 PM How did you mount it up? I have a MT01 mounted on my S2R but kind of just hacked up some metal to get it to fit. Still not 100% sastified with how I mounted it.
Title: Re: MT-03 Headlight Mod Post by: JohnEE on December 19, 2013, 09:34:08 AM Looks Great. I mounted an MT-03 with the stock brackets and it looked ok. Got a link to your brackets?
Title: Re: MT-03 Headlight Mod Post by: AKducati on December 19, 2013, 11:30:03 AM I found the brackets on Ebay searching for "LSL headlight bracket". They are made by HighSider, which I think is out of Germany. After ordering everything up I found out the GSXR forks I installed have a necked down area between the top and bottom triple right where the brackets mount up. I tracked down a HighSider dealer in the UK to order the new sized clamps. This is their listing for the whole setup: http://bikermart.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=220-654-58-68 (http://bikermart.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=220-654-58-68) It doesn't look like they have a listing for just the brackets, but I know from experience they can order specific parts from HighSider.
Even though this setup is significantly lighter than the stock set-up, it didn't feel very confident with just those two mounting points, so I ordered up a bottom bracket that locked everything into place, and also allowed me to adjust the light's pitch. It was originally built for a guy on another monster forum that was mounting up an LED light housing and ended up working perfectly for me. http://shop.crimescenechoppers.com/115MM-Headlight-Mount-CSC-933-CSC-933.htm (http://shop.crimescenechoppers.com/115MM-Headlight-Mount-CSC-933-CSC-933.htm) |
