I have a 2000 m750 and was wondering what years are compatible with my bike. The basic brake and clutch levers seem to be similar on a lot of different years. I also am looking at getting a new front brake master cylinder as well as a clutch reservoir. What years of these are compatible With my bike as well. Thanks for the help
Title: Re: aftermarket lever compatibility Post by: stopintime on December 27, 2013, 04:46:37 PM If I'm not mistaken you have two 320mm discs pinched by two 30/34mm calipers by a 16mm coffin style master. That's a pretty good set up.
The main specific lever feature is the large pivot bolt. You'll find that kind of bolt on all (?) coffin masters.... 620, 750, 800, 695, S2R800 and probably lots of other Ducati models. When you find one you like, post it here and we'll take a look. Many aftermarket levers MUST be properly adjusted to work well (SAFETY!!!) http://www.ducatisuite.com/leverchange.html (http://www.ducatisuite.com/leverchange.html) (scroll down) Another master cylinder won't do very much to improve brake performance, but clean discs, new'ish steel braided lines and fresh pads will. Clutch reservoir? Do you mean another master? Waste of money, IMO, unless you do it for bling - then I support it of course! I replaced mine coffin master first with one from a M1000 since I could still use the OEM line set up then went with my current Brembo RCS masters[brake&clutch] . . . To clear a few things up real quick. I am getting good perfomance from my brakes currently, so I am not really looking at a brake upgrade. My existing levers and coffin reservoirs are peeling paint and have some damage from a lay down I had a year ago. I am looking to freshen them up and help the cosmetics of the bike. since I am looking to replace the components with newer stuff, I was just wondering what would be compatible.
To clarify about the clutch reservoir. On the clutch lever side of the controls is another coffin reservoir that feeds the clutch master cylinder. That is what I am looking to replace. Your master is a 13mm. bore. For after market levers you need the "big pivot'' levers to go with your coffin masters.
