Title: Local Eats Post by: IZ on January 07, 2014, 11:01:58 PM Need some suggestions (breakfast, Italian, Mexican) for Irvine..if there are any..Laguna Beach and up to Newport, HB, LB, Redondo, Santa Monica. Yes, that's a big area but we often find ourselves around those parts and haven't had much luck with food choices so far.
Title: Re: Local Eats Post by: NAKID on January 08, 2014, 11:14:32 AM Well, if you're looking for Asian, only place to go would be Jamboree and Alton. Great strip center with CoCo's Curry, authentic conveyor belt sushi, Pho, Ramen shop, and Asian market (H-Mart).
Sorry, can't help you on the others... Title: Re: Local Eats Post by: IZ on January 08, 2014, 10:08:21 PM Well, if you're looking for Asian, only place to go would be Jamboree and Alton. Yeah, we lived just a few blocks away when we first moved here. That place is insane when it comes to finding a parking place..especially at lunch! We were down your way at Zoomar last weekend BTW and went watching at Dana Point Wharf. Thanks for the suggestions. Trying Taco Asylum tomorrow. We drove by Lemonade last weekend. We'll have to try it Sat. We're going back up to SaMo for the Farmer's Market we saw in/near Venice Beach. Any recommendations for Farmer's Market's BTW? We typically go to the one here at UC-Irvine. I have no FHE with the Farmers Market but i'm sure someone will chime in from the West Side soon Title: Re: Local Eats Post by: IZ on January 12, 2014, 07:43:16 PM Great..thanks again all!
We went up to The Camp on Thurs night. The wife isn't that adventurous with food selections though so I'll have to go back to Taco Asylum myself. That whole place is very cool though! I wasn't expecting all that. Stopped by Lemonade after we left Santa Monica last night but it was packed already and it wasn't a wait we could handle with a tired 2 year old. NAKID..yes, we moved after corporate housing was up after 3 months. Title: Re: Local Eats Post by: red baron on January 16, 2014, 06:40:23 PM Are you referring to the Farmers Market on 3rd and Fairfax?

Title: Re: Local Eats Post by: IZ on January 18, 2014, 09:14:50 PM I'll check it out. Probably heading back up that way tomorrow.
Title: Re: Local Eats Post by: 1.21GW on January 21, 2014, 08:21:20 AM Since someone mentioned Cajun, I'm going through BBQ into the mix. Not sure if Venice is a possible stop, but you mentioned Santa Monica which is close enough:
Baby Blue BBQ. Forget the fact that it is 2000-3000 miles from Memphis, Texas, NC, etc---it is some good BBQ. Title: Re: Local Eats Post by: IZ on January 21, 2014, 07:17:32 PM I moved here from Austin. Craving some good BBQ. I'll give it a try. Possibly this weekend. I have to go up to El Segundo Sat.
Title: Re: Local Eats Post by: 1.21GW on January 21, 2014, 07:31:41 PM Nice. Let me know how you like it. Curious how it tastes to an experienced tongue.
