Title: Mounting rear wheel question - clip
Post by: bigwaves on January 12, 2014, 11:53:36 AM
Hi there,

I just changed my rear wheel on my EVO.  After putting the wheel back and setting the torque, i put the clip back on.  What kind of wire or fastener do people us to tie the clip together?  There was a thin wire that came from the factory.  Is there anything else people use?

I would guess that the wire was there so that they knew that the fastener had been torqued. They normally use a spot of paint for that purpose, butt that would be less than desirable in this instance, I would think.
I have never seen safety wire used in that spot, but if you wanted a belt with your suspenders some standard stainless safety wire would be my choice.

+1  for the zip tie. Check it every time I ride though as they can get brittle after lots of exposure to the elements.
