Post by: Rudemouthsky on January 19, 2014, 11:09:28 AM I think the coolest thing about a lot of these late 70's/early 80's Honda customs is they're mostly subtraction. I remember how blown away I was by how gnarly an old Goldwing looked with all the crap removed.

Title: Re: This makes me want a Honda twin... Post by: SpikeC on January 19, 2014, 03:02:58 PM Every time I see a nice variation on this theme my teeth itch when I see those Firestone tires!
Why hobble a nice bike like that??? Title: Re: This makes me want a Honda twin... Post by: Howie on January 19, 2014, 11:12:12 PM Agreed about the tires.
Title: Re: This makes me want a Honda twin... Post by: Rudemouthsky on January 20, 2014, 05:18:42 AM What's wrong with them? the look? I think they're meant to be old school replica's. Looks like dated performance, that's what I wouldn't like otherwise I'm indifferent. I could see why someone would think they look like crap....the more I look at them the more they suck. I like modern tires and wheels on cafe bikes.

I like modern tires and wheels on cafe bikes. Agreed. If you're gonna take a dated tech machine and use some current tech like suspension, carb upgrades, etc, to improve performance (the whole point of a street racer) then why skimp on the tires? For the period look? Then get rid of the updated suspension, etc! Not really talking about this bike specifically but of many "cafe" bikes I've seen. Title: Re: This makes me want a Honda twin... Post by: Skybarney on January 20, 2014, 10:47:11 AM I don't own a skinny jeans or hang out at the local coffee shop all day using the free WiFi (and ordering just one coffee) to ride a bike like that.........
[coffee] Title: Re: This makes me want a Honda twin... Post by: SpikeC on January 20, 2014, 06:00:09 PM At first I thought that I didn't care about the looks, that the only thing that mattered was the function. Then I thought about how I used to power slide my BMW K1200RS out of corners, and wondered how those Firestone tires would like that sort of behavior. I ride like an idiot sometimes, butt I hate crashing, so I went back to the first thought.........
Good tires trump style and skinny genes every time! Title: Re: This makes me want a Honda twin... Post by: Grampa on January 20, 2014, 06:18:51 PM Hondas

[coffee] I hear ya man but I refuse to allow hipster trash to steal what is bad ass without a fight. Like cafe racers and beards. The skinny jeans they can have.
