Title: PARTS INTERCHANGEABILITY
Post by: DarkMonster620 on January 25, 2014, 05:59:40 PM
The following fenders WILL fit ALL Monsters:

916
996
998

748

848
1x98

M696/796/1100
StreetFighter

MTS620
MTS1X00DS

ALL SS models

These are the ones I have been able to test on MY Monster

Must test SC fenders to make sure7

749/999 might fit, but, needs some work

Also if you have the Brembo Goldline 4 Pot axial calipers and newer Monster, HM or MTS, the brake pads are the same.

Also from what I have been able to research, newer Monster 696 & 796 use the same rotors as the 'older' 6 bolt rotors found on, 916/996/998/748,  Monsters & SS.

If you have something to add, go ahead.

Also an important note to add is that 848, 1098, 1198, streetfighter fenders WILL fit monsters WITHOUT ABS.  The new gen monsters ABS bracket hits the inside of the new gen SBK fender causing it to warp to the left (looking at it from the front).  SBK's that have TC/ABS use a different sensor that reads pins in the rotor float rings where the monster sensor reads the slotted disk mounted closer to the axle.

On the subject of brakes, 696 has 6 bolt rotors, 796/1100 have 5 bolt.

I put this chart together for my SBK fork swap on my 796 (a thread that I STILL need to update for completion...)

I had to use 999R rotors on my 796 (5 bolt) to get the correct offset for the SBK forks and axle (15mm instead of 10mm)

Hope this helps.

(also an important note for brakes, the 1098/1198/SFS have 330mm rotors and use 5mm spacers between the fork slider posts and the brake caliper. This is important because the caliper mounting bolts are the same length, meaning withouth the spacers installed the bolts bottom out in SBK forks about 4mm before the caliper is tight.  You either need to find caliper bolts that are 5mm shorter, or have yours turned down by 5mm.  I digress...this thread is about fenders.)

Ouch!  Years ago I was in a carpool lane after dark in SoCal with a CHP following me.  He went around me and back into the carpool lane.  A couple of seconds later his car spun right into the K-rail.  There was a missing drainage grate.  I have never been so grateful for being passed in my life......
