dang them anyhow!  I'm waiting on my LSL clip ons to come back from the powdercoater.  Any idea how the rise compares to the LSL's?

They look like 1/2 to 3/4 inch more rise than typical SBK clip-ons.
We just ordered a large batch of them.

SPEEDYMOTO 50mm adjustable clip-ons (http://www.motowheels.com/italian/myproducts.cfm?parentcategoryid=38%7CAluminum%20Billet&productID=6434&showDetail=1&categoryID=48|Most%20Late%20Model%20Ducati%20Billet&vendoridtodisplay=0&filterFor=&collection=168%7CEuropean%20Motorcycle%20Parts)

They look great!!! I wonder how much fork tube they need to clamp.  (I want to mount them above my triple)

If you email us at Monday, we can give you the exact measurements.

looks to be about the same amount of rise as my LSL's.....

Nice work speedy moto! [beer]
It looks like they used a hinge design like the early 916/748 on the clamp that should make installs easier.
ease of tube change makes them track friendly.
I would be interested in how tight the clamp is under the tree with the pivot to headlight bracket. can't wait to see them on a bike .
better go order a set.... lol

As pretty as these are, is there that much of a difference between these clip-ons and the Apex clip-ons that are 1/2 as expensive?

20mm rise and the Speedymotos look to be alot easier to install because of that otherwise no. I will say though, they should have more rise to them, somewhere between 50-75mm.

I had actually had purchased the APEX clip-on's from MonsterParts, but since I live in Portland, OR (SpeedyMoto's hometown) I rushed over there, and purchased a pair...They were actually out of stock, and made me a set on the spot!!!

So, I took them over to the dealership where my bike has been sitting for weeks awaiting service, and took back my APEX's.

The SpeedyMoto's look a 100x better craftsmanship/look/adjustability wise. Just spend the extra $100. SOOO WORTH IT!!!

I'll post pix as soon as the dealership gets my bike done...(hi mount termi's, clip-on's, CRG levers, black header wrap) Can't wait.

They will... I'm installing mine this week on my 675. I received these in 50mm (http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=15&products_id=356&zenid=ef517883c9ad5f076db87b28c11e3969) and 53mm (http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=15&products_id=357&zenid=ef517883c9ad5f076db87b28c11e3969) already.

Yeah, let's see some rearsets now!

They are working on it, among other things... Hopefully the rear sets will be out in the not too distant future. I'm not sure if they will have them for the Monster right off the bat. I know they are talking about having them for Superbike first.

they are the measurements on the forks. If your forks are 50mm, than the 53 would be too big and you would need shims. If your forks are 53, the size 50 will obviously be too small and you would have to bore them out.

Sorry for stating the obvious.  Depending on what bike you have, we will know what size forks you have. On the s2r800,1000 and i think s4r, the top part of the fork is 50

I figured that's what they stood for, thanks.  So 50mm would work then?

Yes, you would need the 50mm.  You can verify this by looking at your forks with out measuring them.  on the s2r forks, bottom of the triple tree are wide, i think 53.  The top tapers down to a 50.

54mm at the bottom. 53mm bottoms are generally on SBK forks (along with 53mm tops).

I heard from a parts guy at Motocorsa in Portland that there have been some problems with these clip-ons on monsters.  Apparently they have a clearance issue with the headlight bucket.  Anybody with some experience with this want to confirm?

Confirmed.  SpeedyMoto is making Monster specific clipons to address the situation asap.

Title: Re: New Speedymoto Clip Ons
Post by: squidwood on July 26, 2008, 04:10:33 AM
the clip ons will not fit the s2r for certain. The issue is the clearence with the two brackets that hold on the headlamp. There are two bolts on the bracket that interfere with the hinge of the clip on.This is being worked on as we speak and as soon as a practical solution is made I'm sure Speedymoto will let you guys know. Please bear in mind that they make lots of other parts and have to keep the supply of those going while they address this issue, so , unfortunatly its not going to happen overnight, but they are well aware of the situation and are working on it.
BTW the clip ons will also fit most bikes using that diameter fork.

We mounted the SPEEDYMOTO Adjustable Clip-ons: 50mm  (http://www.motowheels.com/italian/myproducts.cfm?parentcategoryid=38%7CAluminum%20Billet&productID=6434&showDetail=1&categoryID=48|Most%20Late%20Model%20Ducati%20Billet&vendoridtodisplay=0&filterFor=&collection=168%7CEuropean%20Motorcycle%20Parts)on the 696--you have to loosen the headlight to fit the clip-ons and then put the headlight back in place.
It is pretty low under the triple.

Clearance:

Here is both mounted so you can see the difference:

To mount it on top, you will need to lower the front.

I think you'd face the same headlight pan clearance issue with any SBK-type clip-ons on the Monster. I looked at fitting Woodcrafts on my S4R a while back, but decided not to. The position was way too aggressive, and the clearance issues (along with having to reroute all the brake lines & wires) killed the idea.

If you can find clip-ons that have a 1.5"-2" rise on the clamps, then you may be in business. CycleCat made some great riser bars, but they're out of business. Good to see SpeedyMoto picking up the slack.

I have the CycleCat ones on my bike and they are great.  I'm always thought large amount of rise doesn't look quite as good as lower clips but I am always thankful for it when i'm riding.

They definitely have more rise than these ones.  SpeedyMoto's product is top-notch though, i'm looking forward to seeing these on a monster.

hydra,

They should fit the CC risers fine, the CC risers are the same diameter as the fork tube.

Call Moto to confirm.

Yes, it should hit.
The only fit issue we see are the bikes that have the integrated rectangular reservoirs. They may not clear the clip-on portion of the handlebars.

Well, I ordered these today from http://www.desmoworks.com. They were $186 and I got them in Black.

I decided to try another clip-on, one with a rise. I currently run the Apex ones w/out a rise and since they don't offer it, I can't go that aggressive on the angle.. I was looking for some clip-ons that would have a rise, but allow for an angle too.  I'll post up some pics once I have them on.

Ride safe.

and so my distaste for my coffin reservoirs continue...so are they still going to make "monster specific" clip-ons or perhaps some sort of adapter to allow the reservoirs to clear?  i want these bad!

I got them Tuesday and did the left side only. They went on like butter...very nice quality. I'll try to install the right on tonight and post pics. The Rizoma Pods will be off a little though. I have to make or find a bracket now since the angle is more aggressive. You'll see what I mean tonight.

Since I have my headlamp bracket lowered I was able to clear with no issues. I'm also about a quarter of an inch away from the turn signals. I lucked out there. I was worried about that clearance.

ahh, so if you lower your headlight/gauges then these clip-ons will clear just fine?

do you mind posting up some close-ups of the clearance, ICON?  i have a spare headlight bracket to chop, but i want to make sure that i lower it enough.

thx!

Thanks

they look real nice. and that seems like quite an aggressive riding position. i love what you've done to the bike so far!

They are very easy to adjust. Turn the bars left or right for angle or push it in for length.
