Title: Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD? Post by: NFG on February 06, 2014, 04:16:15 PM First up, I'm an idiot. Didn't tighten the bleed screw after replacing the brakes, and in the course of a short ride, it fell out.
I've got the Brembo part number (see this thread (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=66659.0)) but now I need to find a place that sells the things. Can anyone suggest a place in QLD that might have 'em, or be able to get 'em? Failing that, I guess I'll have to order one in. Recommendations for that would also be awesome. =) Title: Re: Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD? Post by: loony888 on February 07, 2014, 12:50:08 AM your nearest dealer should have them in stock, now, if like me you're fussy about which dealer gets your cash (given that some think it's their right to empty your wallet at their whim) i can highly recommend gold coast ducati, stop in, there's more than one reason why.
if you get my meaning.... Title: Re: Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD? Post by: NFG on February 07, 2014, 01:50:22 AM I talked to the guys at Speedys, they said no one ever loses these, and they'd never have them in stock. Called a few other places, no one could even suggest a timeframe to order such an obscure part. It's six hundred yen in Japan, I might just get one shipped over.
Or, you know, hit the gold coast because apparently it's worth it. Or so I'm reliably informed. =D Title: Re: Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD? Post by: oldmanevo on February 07, 2014, 02:26:51 AM Have you tried a brake specialist as you may find they are a standard fitting?
Title: Re: Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD? Post by: FIFO on February 07, 2014, 10:38:02 AM Fark and I was just at the factory yesterday! [roll] Try podium racing on eBay they have titanium bleed nipples about $11.00. Ducati use the 10mm nipples on the rear brake. There post is usualy quick, buy the full set while your at it, makes the post worth while? Try pro bolt they have titanium nipples as well, but they can take forever, even though they say pro bolt Australia, they still post from the UK. Title: Re: Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD? Post by: Speeddog on February 07, 2014, 11:56:26 AM That'd be quite the conversation starter.
"Hi, I'm Rob, and I've got titanium nipples." [beer] Title: Re: Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD? Post by: NFG on February 07, 2014, 01:54:06 PM Have you tried a brake specialist as you may find they are a standard fitting? Yeah, and was basically told there's no way to match the part without having the old one to compare. No one can match it based on the Brembo part number, and one shop even told me that despite having Brembo on their website, they don't do any kind of Brembo brakes. Basically, a whole lot of people blowing me off and not many people wanting to help. It's been pretty frustrating. Worth it though for those titanium nipples, yowr. ;) Title: Re: Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD? Post by: loony888 on February 07, 2014, 09:24:41 PM brembo use a fine thread, yours should be 10x1.25 which isn't run of the mill stuff at your local brake shop unfortunately.
Brembos are used on more than just ducati though, you can try anyone that sells guzzi for example. don't know much else to suggest but i have bought replacement nipples from gold coast before and they have loads of different ones in stock. I'd pull the calliper off, you have to bleed it anyway, and take it with you, check your pads while you have it off too ;) Title: Re: Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD? Post by: NFG on February 08, 2014, 03:40:22 AM Yeah J5, I've been told they're the same. I just thought if it was easy to find the right one without doing the swap, I'd only have to bleed one brake instead of both.

Title: Re: Bleeder screw for rear brakes - where to buy in QLD? Post by: NFG on March 09, 2014, 08:21:58 PM Thanks for the tips guys. Ordered one up from GC Ducati, installed it, bled it, and it's all good now. Rode it home for the first time in months and my neighbor comes out to tell me how happy he is to hear the sound of it again. Not sure everyone else is as happy as he is, but if I have to listen to their screaming kids they can listen to my bike from time to time. ^_^

And that sounds like a fair trade with the neighbours. |
