Title: key coded dash from 900ie > Carbed bike..I can't imagine why it wouldn't work?
Post by: Rudemouthsky on February 24, 2014, 05:58:22 AM
I have an opportunity to purchase a new old stock dash from a 2001 900ie. For the life of me I can't see why it wouldn't work, but it can't be that easy? bear with me here...

Wiring pigtail item numbers are exactly the same between the 2 units...'01 M750 and '01 M900ie...
The plastic housing itself shares the same item number...
The speedometer has different numbers, but it's a mechanical speedometer...so, so what right?  :-\
The tachometer also has unique numbers, so it may get it's signal from the ECU...in which case I will cannibalize my old tach and swap it in.

What am I missing here?

AFAIK, nothing except for the tach maybe..  '02 and newer would be another story

Thanks Howie.

The fact that the internal loom is the *exact* same part number is very strange to me. Makes me think that everything will work, including the tach.
