Title: frozen key holes
Post by: lpgoldtop on February 28, 2014, 03:17:53 AM
I've noticed that my 2013 m1100 hates weather below 30°. Last time I tried to start out below freezing the can bus harness shorted and the whole thing switched to metric(luckily under warranty but it took 2 months to get the part shipped and installed) this morning at about 20° I tried to start it and the keys won't even go in the ignition or the fuel cover. My guess is thermal expansion(or shrinkage in this case) or some frozen mechanism in the key hole. it pisses me off having a bike I like this much that I can't ride 4 months out of the year because it won't start...I know a lot of people don't ride all year, but come on Ducati...

My guess is moisture in the lock that froze.  Try some lock deicer followed by lock lubricant.
