Title: Small (mower) engine help
Post by: the_Journeyman on March 09, 2014, 12:12:16 PM
I'm working on a mower.  It's powered by a Briggs 14HP opposed twin.  I've got it running, but I really need a good diagram of the throttle linkage.  I'm missing a spring that regulates the idle & throttle speeds.  I've figured out it's like part 209 or 209A if you're familiar with Briggs engines.  It runs fine, but I have to hold the throttle in place to start it and I need it to be easy for anyone to start.

Where can I find this?  I've hunted online and can't find anything showing the linkage in places.  It's just exploded diagrams that don't show where stuff goes.

For reference, it's a Murray, not that that should change much about the motor.

This may help as well:

Here what's stamped on the motor:
Model:  400707
Type:  1221 02

When my Murray lawn tractor isn't buried in snow over the hood I can take a pic for you. :P

Thanks!  Aside from that little spring being gone, it runs great.  It only affects starting it, which wouldn't be a big deal if it was mine, but it's a co-worker that has zero mechanical knowledge and won't want to mess with it.
