Title: suggestions for places to do cylinder head work
Post by: Düb Lüv on March 28, 2014, 05:43:09 PM
i've been considering having some head work done on my 03 1000ds heads. it's probably me, actually i know its me. the prices seem way over priced for the work. i was just looking at a light port w/blending of the valve seats, maybe guides, maybe oversized valves depending on the price. i was getting prices from $1500-$2500. huh? i guess being a hillbilly hoosier these are normal prices.

Check w/ eric@cubhousemotorsports.com

No idea what he charges for that work, but he's very reasonably priced in general.

Had a long chat with this guy awhile back when I was thinking about doing a full on short manifold/big valve conversion; can't remember who originally recommended him on the forum but he supposedly does similar work as Guy Martin of MBP at a fraction of the price (all hearsay)

also when I was chatting with Mark Sutton @Ducshop he quoted me a "a few hundred and certainly under $1000" for "mild" porting, which he described the same way you just did, blending the valve seats etc.

Hearsay again, as Mark has only balanced my crank and polished the journals but Frank of FastfrankRacing swears by him, he builds a ton of race engines.

That's funny...I searched for the thread and it turns out YOU were the one who dropped his name, DL. I called him based on this thread. Really friendly and unassuming dude.

Yeah I talked to him about doing the work and he has some medical issues going on. He said as of now he's backed up with other work and no fun work as of now.
