Title: Temperature gauge error light?
Post by: Mhanis on April 02, 2014, 06:38:12 AM
When I started my bike yesterday ('09 M1100, 30,000mi, recently dealer serviced, no major mods) it started just fine and settled at idle. As I was putting on my gloves I noticed that all of the temperature bars were flashing at the same time, everything else on the display appeared normal. I went to toggle through the display to see if there was a corresponding fault message and the display would not change at all regardless if I pushed "up" or "down" on the menu button.

I turned the key off and back on and the bike started and everything appeared normal, no issues on the ride home or in to work this morning.

I meant to check the manual when I got home but forgot to.

Thoughts?

Good connection at the sensor?

Hopefully I am not going to make a huge boob of myself here:

To try and replicate the problem I removed the wiring from the top of the sensor (here is the potential boob part: the temp sensor IS the one in the crankcase next to the oil fill......right?). So, assuming I have the right thing, I disconnected the wiring and started the bike and everything operated as normal. So if I am right, that isn't the problem........

The bike has been fine for a few days.........
