Hello all,
So I picked up a 2010 Ducati 696. What a great bike, I'm really happy with the purchase.
I have a question about my rotors. I recently noticed a little bit of a jitter when I break , it doesnt always happen but its enough for me to be concerned. I brought it to a local shop and one of the guys told me that my rotors could be the issue. After loking up the costs (350 bucks each!!! even some of the after market ones are still $400 for the pair) I wanted to get some advice as to how to really check if its the rotors. Also - if anyone knows any quality brands I can look into than having to purchase the OEM rotors.
Thanks in advance.

Just browse the sponsors to the left . . . you will find what you need and what you don't need . . . ;D
Go into Accessories and Mods to the left and type in the word "rotors" in the search box
You will find a lot of good info [beer]
Before changing the rotors try the following:
1) Clean the blades with acetone or denatured alcohol and a Scotch-Brite pad.
2) Make sure the buttons on the rotors are free.
3) De-glaze the pads and bevel the leading edge, top and the bottom.
4) If conditions permit, bed in using this procedure http://braketech.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54:racing-brake- (http://braketech.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54:racing-brake-) pad--bed-in-procedures&catid=17:tech-talk&Itemid=69 or brake moderately for about 200 miles.

This, especially #4.
It's pretty unlikely you need new rotors
So just to clarify... I need to clean the heck out of my rotors with acetone, right? Can i do it while the rotors are still mounted on the bike?
Thanks

Yes, just avoid getting it on the wheels or tires or other painted surfaces as acetone is hard on 'em.
Ok great. Thank you!
