Title: Enter the Bagger Post by: Chucko9-696 on May 13, 2014, 03:21:44 PM Ok, my new wife and I just made the third pmt. on our new Yamaha V-star 950 tourer. I never thought I would own a bagger. I was looking for something a lil more "fun" that could accomodate a passenger and luggage. We also wanted something she could ride (yes she rides [drool]).
Bringing it home for the first time was a new experience , Its been a long time since I've rode anything other than a sport bike. You dont squeeze your knees, you dont slide off the seat while turning and parts drag the asphalt a lil sooner (scared the sh!t outta me the first time). After about 1500 miles on it I actually like it. Its comfortable, turns incrediblly tight in a parking lot, is awesome at slow speeds and can keep up with my friend's Harley. But every time I sit on it I can't wait till i go back to New York so I can bring my Monster down to Florida. Title: Re: Enter the Bagger Post by: dark_duc on May 16, 2014, 10:30:07 AM Awesome! New bikes are always fun as is a wife that enjoys riding as much as you (mines getting there). You know what the best thing about baggers are? It gives you a place to stick your GoPro to for some killer shots ;D
This was taken from my Yamaha bagger (2004 FJR) (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r212/moore_clan/1000504_10201647186077437_810270515_n_zps15ae039d.jpg) (http://s145.photobucket.com/user/moore_clan/media/1000504_10201647186077437_810270515_n_zps15ae039d.jpg.html) Title: Re: Enter the Bagger Post by: Chucko9-696 on May 16, 2014, 03:00:36 PM [evil] Awesome pic dark_duc, I dont think i can get that much lean angle without scraping the foot boards.

Never been a better sentence to sum up my loathe for cruisers, baggers, etc. ;) Title: Re: Enter the Bagger Post by: Chucko9-696 on May 17, 2014, 04:33:56 AM Never been a better sentence to sum up my loathe for cruisers, baggers, etc. ;) I now live in Florida, i havent found any twisties yet :( And my Monster is still in New York.Title: Re: Enter the Bagger Post by: Rudemouthsky on May 17, 2014, 05:06:33 AM I now live in Florida, i havent found any twisties yet :( And my Monster is still in New York. The wife and I may be moving to FL ourselves if a job she's after comes through...while I will be super stoked to leave the miseries of winter in OH behind, the flatness that is FL is something I won't be too thrilled about. :( Title: Re: Enter the Bagger Post by: duccarlos on May 19, 2014, 06:16:29 AM If you're moving to FL, just buy a cruiser. Truly, there are absolutely no roads that I enjoyed riding on. The very few twisties were always packed.
Title: Re: Enter the Bagger Post by: koko64 on May 19, 2014, 03:38:28 PM So Diavel then for FL?
Title: Re: Enter the Bagger Post by: duccarlos on May 19, 2014, 03:52:53 PM The Diavel handles surprising well, but yeah, something that is more comfortable than the Monster.
Title: Re: Enter the Bagger Post by: koko64 on May 19, 2014, 04:09:03 PM I figured that if I had to have a cruiser then might as well go all the way. They're a $30,000 bike here though, but buying used with the Termi kit would be cool. At least they don't weigh 600lbs, handle well, brake well, have safety features and incredible power.
Just checked. Used with very low miles for under $20,000. Title: Re: Enter the Bagger Post by: Chucko9-696 on May 21, 2014, 05:41:01 AM I would have liked something like the Diavel, But We picked up the Yamaha brand new for less than $9,000. The low seat height makes it easy for Susan to ride it. Those were two of the biggest factors as to why we got the Yamaha.
