I know I saw it somewhere here but evidently I'm searching for the wrong thing. Somewhere I saw a Gen 1 Monster with a Supersport swingarm on it. I remember seeing one of Doug Cook's pictures that made it work but the entire back of the frame looked like it was missing. Obviously I'd need a SS swingarm, shock and mount for the head. But...
Who's done it and made it work ? What had to be cut out to make it fit ?
If I can ditch my hoop and linkage to clean everything up and open up a new possibility for rear suspension I'm all for it.
Duck-Stew did it.
I saw pictures of one of his builds but that still doesn't answer my questions.
Assuming axle size is the same (17mm) I believe a mid 90's one will work. Correct ? What about pivot size ? Is that the same ?
Pretty sure all supersports have 17mm axles and same pivot/diameters as DSS monsters.

AFAIK, ^^^ is the case.
Aesthetically, the last SS swingarm is the one to get.
Fitment wise, I think they're all the same.
Stu added an upper shock mount to the frame, and re-configured the bottom of the tank (not a day's work).
I think Dub Luv got an upper shock mount that goes in place of the rear vertical valve cover, but it's on a DS engine.
Dunno what else would have to be modded on a Gen 1, oil breather tank and fusebox/electricals?

Thanks SD and Dub, that's what I needed to know. Now to look for the valve cover shock mount. Or, I have a friend that's an excellent fabricator and I'm sure I could persuade him to lend a hand. Oil breather tank is gone and the wiring will be redone/cleaned up before I get that far. I'm just trying to think ahead of the game. That way I won't have to worry too much when it comes to 3-4 week shipping times.
My preference would be to add a shock mount to the frame.
A bit of clever design and it could be a bolt-in.
The DS have a nice spigot in the head to feed the load into.
Earlier motors do not.
Either way, I'm a bit leery of feeding that load into the head.
Perhaps it's OK, but the cylinders and heads weren't intended to be structural.
Yes, agreed. Thanks again for the help fellas.
