Title: s2r800 stand alone fuel warning lamp
Post by: xcaptainxbloodx on May 28, 2014, 11:31:22 AM
So now that ive flashed the immobilizer out of my ecu I want to ditch my stock gauges for a simplified setup.

has anyone attempted a stand alone fuel level warning lamp? I know that the signal sender is in the tank and works on resistance but after that I get a bit lost.

maybe some kind of relay setup tapping the wire that would have plugged into the cluster? ???

i tried making it work with an acewell dash, and just couldn't.  it's a thermister, and i don't really understand how they work.  it made no sense to me anyway.

Check this out, Marc:

I bodged one together for Matthew to use on one of his SV's running an Acewell; apparently it works great.  Couldn't be too difficult to have it light off a stand alone LED or 'sumpin.

Don't know if this will help, but this is a circuit a friend designed when I installed a Vapor speedo on a SV. The pertinent components are at the bottom of the diagram. Note that the SV has 2 outputs from the thermistor whereas the Duc only has one.

I have searched off and on for two days trying to find my notes but came up zero. The reed relay and diode were both sourced from RadioShack. Both were common use items and were stocked in their customer drawer display. I assembled them on a circuit board and then shrink-wrapped it.
