Title: Will 1098 Marchesini wheels bolt straight on to S4RS
Post by: Bandicoot on May 29, 2014, 05:15:16 PM
Hi,

I have an S4RS (2006) built around a 2001 Monster frame. It has single-sided swingarm, and 6 bolt discs on brembo rims which need some TLC. I have found some 1098 Marchesini rims complete with discs. Before I seriously consider buying, will they fit straight on to the S4RS?

Any advice or help greatly appreciated.....

PS I love the bike - lots of good noise and oodles of useable power.....

Pretty sure the rear hub is different on the 1098.

I don't believe they'll work.

I know rear wheel PitBull pins from a 1098 do NOT fit a S4rs.
I bought a used PitBull stand from a previous 1098 owner and the pins are worthless to me.
That doesn't prove it won't work, but the axle isn't the same.

1098 rear wheel is a 'large axle', so will not work on an S4Rs.
And the 1098 front has a 5-bolt disc interface, so not good there either.

However.

An 'S4Rs' built around a 2001 frame could have pretty much anything as far as swingarm and forks are concerned.

Some pictures of the bike would help a lot, as it's certainly not a 'production' configuration.
