My Gixxer has an air pulse system to reduce emissions. Do the later Ducati SBKs have similar systems? Is there any performance gain in the removal of such systems for track use? It would make sense that at least disabling it for dyno tuning would be required to get true A/F ratio readings. You would add too much fuel if the system is adding air to the exhaust at certain rpm.
TPO claim that removal will improve running/performance, but I don't know if it would make any difference since the air is added to the exhaust port "downstream" of combustion.
At least the TPO kit cleans up some unnecessary plumbing.
Any thoughts or experience on this?
The new Ducati superbikes have a secondary air system. How much does this cost in performance? Probably not much since there is no egine driven air pump. I would think there is a small weight penalty and possibly some interference in flow, depending on design.
Cheers Howie.
