Title: Dynatek coils install
Post by: d3vi@nt on June 06, 2014, 09:29:34 AM
As the ExactFit coils wouldn't work on my ST2, I order some DC12-1 Dynatek coils and DW-1100 plug wires (thanks to Larry from Dynatek).

Just wondering if anyone has installed these in the past and has any advice before I start the install (probably this weekend due to rain forecast)?  I've seen a few posts about increasing the plug gap a bit due to the better/hotter spark. Manual specifies Champion RA 4 HC's, but IIRC, I installed the alternative NGK DCPR8E's if that makes any difference.

Thanks as always.

I'm using the DCPR8E-9s with a 0.9mm plug gap which come gapped bigger than the 0.6mm some people run on plugs with 900/944 motors. I'm actually running the Iridium version DCPR8EIX-9s at present on my Monster. I only have experience with the "hand grenade" Dyna coils, Exactfit and oem and not the compact Dynas that are available. Never had a problem with 0.9mm gap and strong ignition components. I suppose 1mm is doable. I tried it but didn't notice a difference so I stuck with the pre gapped plugs at 0.9mm.

Others with more experience may chip in.
