After 7 years of service, my battery in my 2007 S2R Monster 800 seemed to now longer start the bike. I put in a brand new Yuasa battery, and now my starting procedure seems to be altered. Oddly enough, the bike will only now start with the kickstand in the up position and the clutch pulled in. Before replacing the battery, when the old one still had power, the bike would also start with the bike in neutral and the kickstand down. Now, it won't start in this manner, and I am wondering if there is any circuitry problems with the starter button or the kickstand. I am perplexed! Any ideas or remedies to correct the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and good riding.
Does the neutral light work properly?
Because it sounds like the ECU thinks the bike is in gear.
