Title: Spark midpipe question?
Post by: RonB on June 20, 2014, 03:09:43 PM
So if all goes right tomorrow I'm picking up a low mile ;D S2R 1000. I'm looking for a full exhaust. The picture of this mid pipe looks like the front pipe bolts right up to the cylinder. The couple of videos I saw on You tube look like the cut the stock head pipe a few inches down and bolted this mid pipe on.

Anyone that has these can you please clear this up for me?

My impression is that most S2R1000 midpipes were one-piece (as the one you link to), but this from DesmoWorld show a two-piece (maybe like those you have seen on YouTube).

http://www.desmoworld.com/shop/ducati-monster/s2r-s4r-s4rs/auspuff/auspuff/s2r-1000-kr-mmer-by-spark.html (http://www.desmoworld.com/shop/ducati-monster/s2r-s4r-s4rs/auspuff/auspuff/s2r-1000-kr-mmer-by-spark.html)

Probably no difference in functionality... maybe a little easier to mount a two-piece, but also another joint to make sure doesn't leak...

Good luck with the bike purchase  [thumbsup]

Looks like you a probably right. Just trying to decide between the Spark under seat or a full Arrow.

S2R1000 and S4Rt/S4Rs midpipe goes all the way to the horizontal head.

S2R800/S4R have a stub pipe on the horizontal head.

Thanks for clearing everything up. Only issue I see is the slip-on's are 4-6 weeks to deliver but the mid pipe is available now. Maay sway my choice to Arrows.

The Arrows parts I've had my hands on are stellar.

Full systems, slipons, whatever.
It all fits perfectly, no drama, bolt it on and go, looks great, sounds great.

Others, not as good.
I'd say the DP full systems are the worst fitting, at least the ones I've dealt with.

Spark midpipe does indeed have a stubby bit out of the front cylinder.

Makes it smaller to ship. It's held onto the rest of the midpipe with springs.

Snapped one of the retainers little arm things (so the spring fell off) down at Phillip Island but it still seals :). One day I'll weld the front part. One day.

Has been going well for the last nearly 4 years I have had it on the bike.

I was considering the Spark. Was thinking about the under seat pipes but due to the 4-6 weeks wait I think I will be going Arrow.
And I did get the 07 with 1,699 miles ;D
