Title: Torque Specs For Ohlins R&T Fork Pinch Bolts?
Post by: Akechi on June 21, 2014, 04:25:56 PM
Anyone know the toque specs for axel pinch bolts on Ohlins R&T forks?  The manual that comes with them doesn't mention the specs.  I've seen pictures floating around of cracked Ohlin lowers from over-tightens bolts, so I'm a little afraid to just wing it.

I never use torque numbers for the front axle pinch bolts. Since the axle is not very sturdy, tightening the one bolt will loosen the other if you just torque by numbers. I tighten them down, alternating between the 2 bolts until tightening the one does not loosen the other.

However, looking into the installation leaflet I got with my R&T, it specifies 20 Nm for the pinch bolts, so I suppose you could use that. Be sure to use the alternating method until nothing moves anymore in any case.

+1
I use the torque setting with the alternate method until both bolts hold the torque setting on any clamp where the bolts hold the torque in tandem.

some are m6: 10nm, some m8: 18nm.  in a pattern of until they stop tightening as above.
