Title: Paint or Powdercoat?
Post by: MonsterMadMarty on July 14, 2014, 01:28:24 PM
I'm tearing down a M900 engine and want it looking brand new and original.

Do I paint or powdercoat?

The only high temperature available isn't quite on the money for a colour match (reasonable close).  Does anybody know if there is a powdercoat colour that is spot on?

Cheers  [thumbsup]

Paint them.

Powder is too thick and will retain heat in the engine.

Ceramic is better than powder but doesnt restrict heat as much, I personally have an older v twin with powder coated jugs and head but its not aluminum, never had any trouble but i agree, high heat paint works better than powder

IMHO, I would not advise ceramic coating the engine.
As you want the cooling fins to radiate heat, not keep it in.
