Title: Similarity in sprockets
Post by: catduke on July 23, 2014, 07:18:05 PM
Are the rear sprockets in a 2006 and 2007 Ducati S2R 800 Monster exactly the same? If I am forced to get a replacement aluminum sprocket instead of steel, will the wear factor be considerably greater? Thanks for any help!

Yes.

Yes. But depending on how much you ride, and how long you plan to keep the bike, it may not be relevant.

After what happened with the last aluminum sprocket that I tried, I will NEVER put another one on a motorcycle.  At least it let me know fairly quickly that I had broken the clip that holds the front sprocket in place.  It only took a few hundred miles to do this to the aluminum sprocket.

Sounds to me like a great reason to keep using an ally sprocket. It let you know that you screwed up before real damage occurred!
