Battery is 9 years old. Left the lights on with no engine running for about 40min and now its too weak to start. Debating buying a Battery Tender and charging it up or just buying a new Battery. Thoughts? Any concerns with regards to changing the battery? Seems straightforward but I havent done it before. Want to make sure I dont get locked out by the imobilizer or something wierd from all power going out to the system.
At 9 years old, you've squeezed every last penny's worth out of that battery.
No matter what they say on a new battery, at least hook it to a battery tender overnight to get it fully charged.
It'll help it hold up better in the long run.
No magic necessary changing the battery, remove negative wire first, attach negative wire last.
You'll have to re-set the clock.
So I bought a battery but before installing it the next day the bike started fine. What do you think? Change the battery anyway or return the new one and get my $100 back?
Keep the new battery . .. the old one "rested" and got something back, but, it will leave you soon
I would use the new one and +1 on the battery tender.
That 9 year old battery is ready to leave you stranded somewhere. Install the fresh new battery and..... [Dolph]
