I took a quick ride today on the southern most section of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Rode it right to where it meets the Great Smokey Mountains Park.
Out a seldom (met 0 cars in 18 miles) used section of the BRP we have this:

Each step is engraved with a chapter of the Masons

They had to enclose it because people tried to break of and take pieces of the rocks.

It is right where the two parks meet side one of the sign:

Stopped at a mill just inside the Great Smokies park. Built in 1886 and still operational.

Looking down the water feed - It was a turbine mill instead of having a wheel.

Thanks for sharing! Love the water feed. I bet I could sit there for hours and just listen to the birds and the water. Respite from the cacophony of the city.
JM, you should start a secret masonic-like society for unknown rides in the BRP. Let the unwashed masses have Deal's Gap. We ducasons have JM! ;D
Awesome! Thank you for sharing.
Where is Mt. Pisgah? ;D Did you have lunch there?
Mt Pisgah was about 30 miles or so northbound on the BRP from where I started. I didn't have lunch anywhere. I have eaten there in the past, and it's pretty good; They serve trout from the farm that is nearby on one of the state routes and just outside the park.
JM
Now I think all the time when I'm riding, "would JM stop and take a pic"……….
Yet I never do. [laugh]
Great stuff JM.
