I can't find my triumph speed triple 2006 key after a trip from deals gap.
What's my next option?
What sucks is I bought blank key few weeks ago but didn't have it keyed :(
Phew finally found it at an unlikely place after searching for days.
Still what would have been next course of action?
Buy a Ducati?

Not that it's a bad idea per se, but it won't help with a Triumph key.
1st thing Monday, I will be getting the blank key keyed.
And yes, I still got my monster now 54k miles :). Got red key n black. Need to find the 2nd black key as well. Ugh...
Still I am curious to know what other unfortunate soul has done in this type of situation.
I couldn't fine my key for a while, I simply pulled the ignition switch plug and basically hotwired the bike to ride it. That worked for the remainder of the gas in the tank at least. If you have an aftermarket filler cap that doesn't need a key, you don't have to worry about opening the tank.
Other options are shopping eBay for a new filler cap assembly & and new ignition switch. Of course, if you've got an immobilizer equipped bike, that's not so easy and it'll get expensive quick.

As far as the physical key itself, if the ignition is a standard pin/tumbler setup, then any locksmith worth his salt would have been able to cut you a key from either the ignition or the tank lock cylinder.
Dealing with the immobilizer would have been a bit more tricky.

Damn, ducatiz, that's a pretty good idea. If the bike has an immobilizer, you could reflash the ECU and disable it and then all worries would be gone.
If I have any issues with the ignition switch or tank cap I'm going to remember this.
I've left my bike parked in Daytona during BikeWeek with the key in it (not on purpose) and no one ever messed with it.
So why would someone even think, "oh, it's probably a blank key" and steal it??

Simple and easy and no way to walk by and tell that it's just keyed for a blank either. I have a blank, my current one is slightly bent and very worn. I just might have to talk to a couple lock smiths.

had that done on a ford truck once, locksmith uses a colored key blank and hand filed it according to the marks the tumbler made on the blank key, he turns the blank really hard into the tumbler to get the marks to show up, cost me a hundred
