Title: Searching for part#
Post by: CMDRDAVE on July 11, 2008, 06:10:53 PM
How do I find a part #?  (front brake light micro switch on 748)  The lists on the ducati web page only go back to 2000.  I need a part for a '98?

Have you tried calling a Ducati dealer?

nope, they aren't open until tomorow.   ;)  I am kind of impatient.

Why do you need it?

I assume the front brake lever wont turn the light on since you recently replaced/fiddled with the lever and the little nub came out?

Here you go.          539.4.021.1A
the part number may update but it should be the early style with the attached wires and the small puck actuator

retail is around $43.99

I have not replaced fiddled with the lever, but someone may have at some point.  I did notice that the little rubber "boot"  was not on the actuator portion of the switch.  Is this a common problem.  I found a replacement of a newer 748 but it didn't fit.  Mine mounts with 2 little screws.  This one had press in tabs that don't align with the holes.  I have decided to quit playing around and go with OEM.

DUCVET - Thanks for the #.  Where did you find it so that I don't have to post again for the next little part that breaks?

I had just ordered one for a customer.

Try looking up part numbers from the parts fiche at ducati's web site.
