Title: Part number for grey speedo dash plate (km/h) around 2001
Post by: Nibor on September 05, 2014, 05:30:53 AM
As the title suggests.
Scored an awesome NOS dash with tacho for my older 750, but here in Oz we are in the 21st century, and play with the decimal system :P

I only need the speedo backplate. Want to keep it grey to match the tacho. My older 97 750 had the white background. This NOS dash was originally for an s2r?

Anyway hoping someone (speeddog?) can help, with a part number I might be able to find something on the interwebz for a decent price. Or just ask the local dealer..

Thanks! [bacon] [beer]

My parts catalogues don't show internal parts for the speedo.

It does show the individual speedo instrument, so I'd imagine you could get one in km's.
The mph one shows up for about US$210, brand new.

Can you post a couple pics of the front and back of what you've got?

The S2R were all-electric gauges, there wouldn't be a fitting for your speedo cable to attach.

Sorry it is a 2001 S4 dash. Got it from Buck.

You should be able to swap in an '00 or '01 speedo from an M900 or the like.

Can't really make sense of the Ducati parts catalogue numbers across '01 S4 and '00 and '01 M900, etc.
They randomly provide the speedo with or without the trip reset knob, which corrupts the part number.

I don't know for sure when they changed from white to grey, I think '00.

If you can't get a new one, this guy makes anything you want.

AFAIK the plates aren't letting much light through them, so if you have speedo light through the numbers they might be less than optimal. Don't know how that works on the older bikes...

I've got a while before it'll be going back on, so I'll keep an eye out for 2nd hand. That link for aftermarket tachos will be very useful otherwise!

Thanks guys :)
