Title: Ecu reflash question loss of torque
Post by: cbcanada on September 05, 2014, 07:52:10 AM
2005 s2r 800

My bike had Termi slip ons

Recently I removed the catalytic converter and put straight pipes down the headers for a full system.
So I figured I would get the ECU reflash

Now I find are the bike runs super smooth No more choppy low reps easier Street riding

But I miss some of that low-end torque which is now gone. I am told this is because there is no back pressure any longer

Is this true and normal after an ECU reflash?

what do you folks recommend I do? should I change the gearings by way of sprocket?

Should I open up the airbox? not sure if that will make a difference?

If the motor is running good, change the sprocket for more grunt.

which ecu was in the bike previously?

opening the airbox generally always helps.  if the mapping is meant for that then it might be too rich as is.

sort the problem rather than work around it.

I drilled 10 holes 3/4" in the air box and that seems to help a bit yet

I do not know what ecu was in it before.
