Title: Tail Chops and Tail Bags Post by: Crazy Canadian on July 11, 2008, 10:57:06 PM Hey guys. Been having trouble with the thought of chopping my frame, but am almost there. I have pulled the plate holder with the help of some folks at Tanya's place in Denver last year before the DITR ride, but not the full chop. With the new Arrows, Rizoma Retros and other goodies going on, I have started to get this new vision of the bike, and I'm having conniptions!
Okay onto the question: I use a Joe Rocket tailbag occasionally and it's a little on the long side. It often ends up hanging back off the light and is partially riding on the beer tray. If the beer tray wasn't there it would probably be hoked up in the wheel and would be a big red stain on the highway. How many of you guys with tail chops use a tail bag, and if so, which one?? I need the room when I travel. I have a very cool backpack but I 'd prefer nt to wear it on long trips. Thanks! Sorry no real help Title: Re: Tail Chops and Tail Bags Post by: Ivan on July 12, 2008, 06:10:49 AM Okay onto the question: I use a Joe Rocket tailbag occasionally and it's a little on the long side. That big red stain could be you getting run over by a truck. With or without beer tray, you need a smaller tailbag!!!! http://www.newenoughhp.com/luggage/tail_bags/cortech_by_tour_master/sport_motorcycle_tail_bag.html (http://www.newenoughhp.com/luggage/tail_bags/cortech_by_tour_master/sport_motorcycle_tail_bag.html) The Cortech Sport tailbag fits well on the Monster, it does not block the tail-light, assuming that you have it secured properly. I know that some place the bag on top of the seat cowl, but I always remove the cowl. The bottom of the bag is soft rubber, so it will kinda stick to whatever you place it on. I'm sure that if you get a bit of dirt between the bag & the cowl, it will scratch. Not that anyone cares, but I approve. I posted the above after getting Cortech tail bag for my full tail chop, after lots of looking and research, and it's great. It holds plenty for long rides and combined with a tank bag you have more than enough room. The bungees worked fine in keeping it from moving and coming anywhere near covering any lights. Good product. Title: Re: Tail Chops and Tail Bags Post by: slick on July 13, 2008, 12:44:11 AM I know that some place the bag on top of the seat cowl, but I always remove the cowl. Thanks for the info, I know what to buy next :) Title: Re: Tail Chops and Tail Bags Post by: Crazy Canadian on July 13, 2008, 09:54:36 AM http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=4024.msg60188#msg60188 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=4024.msg60188#msg60188) I posted the above after getting Cortech tail bag for my full tail chop, after lots of looking and research, and it's great. Good product. Hey thanks for the great info! And...I have the same bike expect gloss black 2007. Very cool exhaust too. I almost bought that zard system, but was worried about melting boots and just like the sound of the Arrows better, at least what I herad on the net of the Zard. I have heard the arrows in person and they sounded awesome. To be honest, if they had some heel guards, I probably would have went with the Zards just for the look. Zard take note!! :) |
