Title: Monster, throttle snaps slowly,
Post by: monsterman on July 12, 2008, 09:58:33 AM
 [bang] [bang]

First off, just want to thank everyone who gave suggestions on my exhaust problem. Much appreciated.

Now another issue, lol.

i took my bike out for spin yesterday, and when I got home, turned it off for a few, started it back up so I can park it inside,
my hand grip, throttle, got a bit stuck. Usually I rev it and it snaps right back, but yesterday, it snapped back way to slow.
Now it was the hand grip that snapped back slowly, because when I played with the throttlle on the motor, it snapped back
rright away.

Any clues to what I should do? Or what the problem is?
thanks

The first thing I would try is taking apart the throttle assembly on the handlebar.

There are two screws that hold the two halves of it together.

Take the two halves apart slowly and look to see if the cable (or one of the cables, if it's a two cable assembly) is resting properly in the cam guides.

If the cable's not on it correctly it will cause friction and sticking.

If everything's assembled correctly in the hand throttle assembly, check down the length of the throttle cable and see if there's any kind of kink at any point.  If not, lube the cable inside the sheath and see if that fixes the problem.

 ;)
...could simply be the rubber grip rubbing against the throttle housing or the bar end...

check that out first before getting into the housing.
