Title: Dismantling Old Monster Forks
Post by: dragonworld. on November 02, 2014, 01:33:04 AM
Gidday all
Pulling my 97-98 forks apart both single disc and a new/second hand twin disc setup and they seem the same?
Single disc definitely Marzocchi, Ducati markings! Twin disc probably Showa as I understand! Except for the second disc they seem identical!
2 Questions!
1. Do both types run the same damper assembly's?
2. Unable to remove damper assemly from fork leg! Fork tube removed from lower and bottom retaining bolt removed!
Is the damper assembly pulled out in a "Slide hammer" action, or somehow pushed out from the bottom?

Dont want to damage anything so asking first from the Monster community! [thumbsup]

Cheers
Gazza

marzocchi 40mm damper is not removable, it's part of the fork leg.  showa are 41mm.  not identical.  some 40mm marzocchi rh legs have a caliper mount, but not all.
