Title: M900 Cylinder Head Assembly
Post by: MonsterMadMarty on November 10, 2014, 12:47:01 AM
Today I've assembled the vertical cylinder head on my 93 M900.  So far so good..... Well, I think so!

Once assembled should I be able to turn the cam by hand? Everything just seem a bit too tight! From memory prior to pulling it all a part the closing rocket could be push down with a screw driver with a fair amount of ease, now it sit solid. What have I farked up?

Cheers in advance

Hard to tell over the internet, but if it turns with the rockers off, valve clearance.

yeah clearences are better to be a bit loose than tight.
when they are tight (closer) your putting extra load on the half ring.
either get another shim or sand it down some.

I think maybe as I had the valve reseated they will be sitting slightly higher and therefore the original clearance is now tight! Would that make sense?

Yes.

Depending on how much material they removed it could be more than slightly higher.

that would make the opener tighter and the closer have more clearence. you should still re-shim.
(dont forget I have swags of shims if you need em...)
