I'm planning to get me the Monster 821 ;D
Maybe I'dd add a termignoni exhoust as well, there's 2 choises:
1) Pair of homologated carbon silencers. These silencers are equipped with cat converters and approved for road circulation under current EU regulations.
2) Carbon fibre racing silencer kit. With dedicated mapping and removable dB killer, this slip-on silencer system unleashes the sound and power of the Monster.
So I don't think the first one would give any performance gain (except maybe it weight), so I'm not that interrested.
What would the benefit of the second one be and Is much noise difference to be expected?

First, http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=111.0 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=111.0)
Second: The Termi racing kit has dedicated mapping and baffles; power/torque gains are expressed in % not specific HP or Nm gained since it all depends where you are, the quality of the gas or the altitude you are located. Yes you will feel it, but, if you're in the EU know your laws, if you're in the USA, know your laws.
Here we can sort of get by since the laws are not so strict, without the baffles, I'll hear you coming from far away . . .

First: done [bang]
Second: Thanks! It would probably have to be with baffles and I hear then the performance gain is nothing.

Performance is between 10%-15% due to the factors I mentioned
Just FYI with the S4RS the performance gains were definitely noticeable with the full Termi and ECU swap. However with the baffles in I think (did not dyno with the baffles in) the performance is worse than stock. I think the bike runs too rich with the baffles in
go with option 2.
the homologated silencers are litle more than prettied up stock cans. I dont know what the DP ecu has on it but I imagine its pretty damn similar to the stock map, might just scroll "DUCATI PERFORMANCE" on start up and allow you to rev a little higher or move the power around a bit.

the mapping does add more power, specially in the Sport Mode is where you feel it more, Touring Mode still is more progressive but also has more power and Urban Mode adds just a little, not much . . . As I stated somewhere, I did a wheelie on a M821 that I had just installed the Termi kit
Just buy the 1200.

for us here in this 3rd world country, the M821 makes more sense in a day to day basis . . . yes, we have sold 4 M1200, 2 of each, and the customers say the following "too hot" "too much power" "why do they install a 6th gear, never used it" . . .even me on my M620 don't use 6th gear as much . . .
but if you calculate 10%-15% and avg as 12.5% you get 13.75hp more as AVERAGE, but not necessarily that much since is all dependent on "external factors" and that is why they changed claims from HP/Nm gains to % gains in both . . . me, I'm happy with 60hp

Yes it would also give me the adjustable front damper, single swin garm... [roll]
But it still is more expensive, especially when including tax and insurance. I also don't think the 1200 is better; I found it less easy to corner and less responsive at low speeds (probably due to the fact you don't have to change gear that often).

wait a few months if you want front suspension adjustability . . .

not S . . . just M821 . . no radial master . . . the S would be for STRIPE . . not S as in Sport

Thanks a lot of the info! Damn I tought it was just a color; looking at the specs now I see there's a micro-windshield (have to see that for real, but doesn't matter) and 43mm fully adjustable usd forks :-D
It'll be winter soon, so yes I can wait; I want the bike in spring.
S for stripe [roll]
[laugh]
I have to say that I cringe when I visit the dealer and see some of the promo stuff. The Scrambler vid makes me feel very old and uncool [laugh].

Ride it for a while before you spend your money on any of this stuff. Unless you are coming off of an R1, GSX100 or something similar I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the performance.

Thanks for the advice!
You know how it goes, you start putting things together (dreaming) but in the end it'll be up to the dealder's discount.
Price of 821 stripe version is online now [thumbsdown]; 850EUR more!! Wonder if the adjustable front suspention is worth it.

yes it is . . .
Hello,
Having more or less the same question but I am not really looking for more power (engine of the 821 is strong enough for me). I am more interested in a nicer sound.
Is there a big difference in sound between the standard exhaust and the Termignoni homologated one?
Thx,
Dino

Yes the performance one is louder even with the baffles in . .. if you want to stay withing the law, the CF Homologated kit that has a catalytic converter and no power gains. .. cost is around $1900.00
