Title: Strange foils on S2R1k swingarm
Post by: slick on July 13, 2008, 03:40:13 AM
Hi!

Could someone tell me what is the purpose of the alu foils on various parts of the swingarm?

I 'think' they are put on to protect the swingarm from damage in the crate. The dealer should have removed them during set-up

Whatever they're for they serve no purpose now...and they're ugly ;)

Duh!!!

I removed all the stickers and the reflectors and I left these on.  Didn't even think that they should be removed.  I guess because they were shiny I thought they were "special."   :P  I hope they come off easy enough after being baked on for 1.5 years!!  Could these not be areas of particular wear from rocks and such??  I guess it don't matter.  ;D

DO NOT REMOVE THEM

They protect aliens from overriding the immobilizer.

Note: This is a technical bulletin for all Ducati's
If the bike in question has aluminum shielding near the exhaust system please remove the heat reflecting tape. This was only to be used on factory race bikes that were not to be used on the roads. It was discovered that the street bikes were not getting to a high enough temperature and the  [bacon] was not cooking enough to be safe to consume.

Please remove all tape at pre delivery and also remove any drippings from our testing.
thank you for co-operating in this matter.

If you take the foils off, make sure you take some fuel injector cleaner to the aluminum. It will remove the gluey goop residue with a single wipe. Chevron w/ techron works fine. you just need a few drops on a cloth for this to work.

Yeah, if you pull those off, your swingarm will seperate into 3 pieces.

I took the foil off tonight and went for a ride.  The swing arm fell apart and the back wheel fell off.  I put it back together with zip ties.  [wine]
