Post by: grinningevildeath on July 13, 2008, 08:03:08 AM
can someone point me a site that has cylinder head wrench for 2000 m750 that won't fall apart after one use?

thanks

WTF is a Cylinder Head Wrench?

Do you mean a torque wrench for tightening cyl. head bolts?  A spark plug wrench?

If you're unhappy with the usual aftermarket tool sources, then check on a torque extender from Snap-On.  You'll probably have to use a grinder to make it thinner so it will fit, but it will be top quality.  I can't say whether it's long enough or not.  Another option is to weld a socket to a wrench.

only one i found in the states so far is from here http://www.motoreva.com/tools.html. I have bought this before and found that is was not properly heat treated and stripped after replacing the o-rings and gaskets on the cylinder heads once. the one made by ducati is way too expensive($330!).

Dang am I cheap or what. I just use a combination wrench and a hex wrench socket on the torque wrench that fits believe its 14mm hex.

Some simple math if it isn't 90 degrees to the torque wrench, changing the length of the wrench changes the torque value.

Here's the formula:

If you need 140 ft/lbs at the nut = Ta (torque adapter)
Torque value seen at wrench =     Tw (torque wrench)
Wrench is calibrated by length =    L
Extension to wrench                 =  E

                                                                     Tw =  Ta X L  /  L  +  E

   So if you need 140 ft/lbs at nut and your wrench is 20" long, measure the length added from socket bit to where the center of the nut is on extension  lets say 5"

                                                                     Tw= 140 X 20  /  20 +  5       answer is  112 ft/lbs  reading on wrench to get 140 at nut

This formula works if you add extension, for some reason if you take it away, subtract E from L  ( L  - E )
