Title: Running In?
Post by: MonsterMadMarty on November 18, 2014, 02:48:55 AM
I'm close to finishing a M900 engine rebuild.  I've fitted a NOS gearbox, low km cylinders (2000 miles) and new JE high compression pistons.

What's the recommended running in process?  Do I need to use any certain oil, how often should I flush it? How should I ride the bike?

Cheers in advance for any info   [thumbsup]

new big ends?  fresh cylinders?

if not, get it hot and cold once to allow the pistons to settle, then repeatedly get it hot and give it a hard time to bed the rings.

i'm only ever gentle to fresh cylinders and big ends, but only rpm wise.  still wot at mid speeds.
