Hello all,

I just registered on this forum so I am very new.
After 14 years still driving with my first bike (2000 Yamaha Fazer 600) it is time for a new motor bike and I am interested in the new Monster 821.

I use my bike most of the time just for fun but once in a while I use it to go to work. When I use it for commuting I need to do 1 hour highway and I really need my top box in the back of my bike where I can store securely my personal stuff.

I would like to know if anyone has some experience with driving the Monster 821 on the highway? I saw on the website they have a very small windshield as an accessory. Does this give a big improvement? How is the seating position if you drive 1 hour on the highway?

Anyone has a top box on a Monster 821?

I've done some checking, and Givi does make saddlebags and a tank bag that will fit the 1200. I think (and I could be wrong) they will also fit the 821.

The Givi top case is generic and will fit a variety of Monsters, but a bike-specific bracket is required in order to mount it properly. The Givi website is confusing, and I have not yet found any information indicating that Givi has released a bracket which will mount the top case on the 1200 or 821.

Hopefully, that will be corrected soon. If not, I'm not sure how difficult it would be to modify the one from the 1100 or to have a custom bracket made.

I would think companies would start to release products for the 821 pretty soon, but who knows.

I already had a look at the Ducati accessories.
Did some more reading about it and noticed a good thing: the "Semi-rigid side pannier set" are lockable with padlocks. I hope it also means nobody can remove the bags when you park your bike somewhere.
For the moment I would still prefer a nice top box from Givi...

Anyone has some experience with the "Smoke windscreen". Is there a big difference between driving with and without the screen?

the side pannier set is not removable unless you "key it out" . .  a customer has a kit on his M1200 which he uses as a daily ride here  . . . OK, he has tank bag, tail bag and the side bags . . . he mostly uses the tank and tail bags but on weekends he has all 4 on the bike, he is a happy guy

regarding the windscreen, no fhe so . . and it's fairly a new acc . .  but I will assume it does make a big difference on longer jaunts

Hey there, I own an 821 and I have just about 2,000 on the clock already! It's been a great ride so far, and I have fallen in love with this bike. My big plans for the bike involve some awesome trips throughout California and the rest of the West Coast. I have started to acquire some gear in preparation for these trips and have a formed a few opinions so far.

Windscreen - Most of my miles have been city streets, but with what few (hundred) miles of freeway riding I have done I can definitely say that I am 100% ready to give the Windscreen a shot. It must help increase ride comfort and aerodynamics enough to feel a small difference, which is all i'm asking for given the thick wall of air that my head, chest and stomach  must cut through at 65+ MPH. It may not be a life changing benefit, but I know that every time I get on the freeway for a long ride I wished I had already just bought the damn thing  :D ;D :D ;D :D

Not as pretty as the Monster but the MultiStrada might be worth looking at.

They seems well constructed and I like the easy ability to remove the brackets when not in use.

Down side I see is that they don't lock to the bike, nor do they have a carrying handle.

Hi Dino. I am a year into the ownership of the M1200, with the factory screen.

The bike is great and journeys of an hour are no issue. However I have had a screen from day one so no real experience of the non screen option.

A different bike to a Fazer, definitely more character!!
