Ok so I've read the threads on how to do this where an ECU Flash is required.
My question is once you remove the O2 sensors from the programming do you still need them connected to not throw a CEL? Could I physically just remove them off the bike completely? If so, how do you guys safe off the connections to the sensor cable? Is there a connector cap that I can buy to safe these off? I'm assuming that the O2 sensor connector is tied directly in the main harness. I'd like to keep the connections available but also protected from the elements in case I decide to revert to a stock setup in the future.
Ideas would be appreciated that allow for a clean installation. Obviously I could just jam a wad of electrical tape in the connector and wrap it a bunch of times but I'm the type of guy this likes my bikes neat and tidy.
SuzyJ has a thread here somewhere with source(s) for the typical Ducati electrical connectors.
Plugs for the where the O2 sensors go in the exhaust, I need them so rarely, I just Google 'O2 sensor port plug' and pick from there.
No FHE on whether the ECU will throw a code or not.
If it is reflash to "delete" them and make an 'open loop' operation, the ECU then wont need them so the signal coming from them is dead, so no MIL . . . For the Continental ECU, Rexxer is the best way to go unless you do your own code
Hi
I can confirm this. Once the Rexxer flash is done and the lamda`s eliminated you no longer need them in the bike. If you had a Power Commander fitted with O2 optimizers you can remove it as well.
On mine the exhaust valve was removed. Once the flash was done I took off my DIY fix and no lights come on. (the Rexxer took care of that too)
It took +_ 50km`s after the flash for the ECU to find its feet. Once the flash was done and the bike started it idle high as before and then dropped to 1250rpm. I was a bit skeptical at first and took her for a spin. Approaching home I noticed a remarkable change in the bikes behavior and made one last detour. Almost selling the bike before the flash, she is now a beast.
A few things to keep in mind. The motor on this bike like a bit of back pressure. I have an SC Project R60 can and after fitting the db killer I noticed the bike ran even smoother. With the db killer out the bike is LOUD and sounds awesome, but low speed drivability suffers. Also fitted is a Pipercross foam air filter and a small air box mod. (two extra intake points)
