Hey all. The 65mm axial mount 2-pad, 4-piston Brembo calipers I ordered for my CBX are a bit too wide on the inboard side. I'm trying to figure out if the older cast OEM 40mm mount calipers might fit better - I only need something 2mm narrower. The GP/billet calipers will fit for sure, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to drop that much coin (although they sure are sessy).
Can anyone help me with a measurement from the centerline of the rotor to the inboard face of the caliper, as shown in these photos:

give me 10min and i will let you know! mounted, im estimating 42mm from centreline to the inside (rimside), on the calipers. unmounted, will be a bit easier! what is your limit?
can you possibly have the face machined a millimetre or two?
...just get the billet! [drool]
39mm +- 1mm is what i came up with. hope this helps!
Nibor, thank you so much - I really appreciate this a lot.
The original plan was to mill a bit off the 65mm caliper, but when my machinist took it apart to measure how much material was there, he said it's just not enough to get the clearance we need, which is why I'm hunting for other calipers.
Our limit is ~38mm, it just might be possible to make one of these older calipers work!
But I'm leaning more and more towards just going for the billet. It's a lot of money but if I divide the cost by the number of times I'm gonna look at it and smile, I don't think it would seem so bad. 8)
Was about to suggest a 40mm Nissin 6 pot, but they're 40mm across from the centreline too. Shame brembo done have these specs easily available too!

In supermoto, we often have to remove material from the inboard side of non-billet Brembos to clear the spokes on a 16.5 inch rim. And it's quite easy to turn the caliper into a paper weight (or worse, timebomb/deathtrap). Rather than milling a flat plane, I use a black wax pen to on the caliper surface to expose the contact points with the spokes and only remove material where it's necessary. Can't recommend it for your application though. I'm assuming that you are making contact with a cast rim rather than spokes? Will an adaptor need to be made for the retrofit? If so, it may be possible to shim both the caliper and rotor outward to get the clearance that you need. Mill a little, shim a little? At the end of the day, it's your responsibility to ensure the integrity of your equipment. Hope that the perfect solution presents itself.
Nibor was off a bit, the dimension is 39.1mm. [laugh]
I stumbled across the drawings a while back, took me a bit to remember where they were.

They've got the drawings for many other Brembo components.
Good find, Nick. This needs to be a sticky somewhere.
Sorry my tolerances are a bit loose :P
Bit cheaper than 1 piece billet, and they're only 36.1mm, which gives you plenty of clearance :P

I'd assume they fit?
Those billet jobbies came on 888, according to their application list.
Tho I've found errors and omissions on their lists, so YMMV....
I'm 99% sure those would fit.

Yeah, I was never looking at the 1-piece billet. These are exactly the calipers I'm 95% committed to now.

This is an incredible resource, thanks so much!
