Title: 2007 695 intake Ducts
Post by: wasabi on February 05, 2015, 09:55:24 AM
I found yesterday that my Intake duct(the rubber tube) has a tear in it. I was at the shop already and they looked to order the new parts from Ducati, but it said that these parts are no longer being produced. Really? I have a premium motorcycle that is not even 10 years old and Ducati does not make the part?
The dealership said that the statute of limitations on producing the part had run out and it is up to Ducati to decide if they want to make the part or not.
They also said there on not any new aftermarket parts being produced. So this leaves me to find the part on ebay or something. I actually found the part at an online company called Cross Country Cycle. With all the 620's and 695's on the street how do they think think this is a good idea? Do you think it is a problem with Ducati being a smaller company on the rise and it will come in time with demand?

I've done a bit of digging, and it's looking like you've found a glitch in the part numbers.

AFAIK, that manifold fits '02 to '08 620, 695, 750, 800 air cooled engines.

That would be a huge number of bikes.

So I have looked several places and this is the part number I am looking at 140.2.046.1A.
I have not been able to find it in stock. Am I looking at the wrong part number?
It turns out cross Country Cycles does not have it in stock and neither does Beverly Hills Ducati.

I have some I won't be using.  PM sent about a purchase (assuming you'd be interested in a used part...)

shops wouldn't have it in stock because ducati have probably sold 5 in the last 16 years.

14020141A supersedes to 14020142A supersedes to 14020143a
14020451A

are # from 400, 620, 750 or 800 parts lists.  i don't know why they'd be different, but the # you gave are USA spec # and are NLA.  you would think they'd put a supercession on them.

Makes no sense why they wouldn't.

That seems very frustrating to me. Why wouldn't the guy at the parts/service desk not know to do this? They/he should have known something was up.

Thanks for the help guys. I am going to get the used parts from Duck-Stew.

It isn't the dealer.

The problem is at Ducati not providing any info.

the spare parts person at the dealer can't have an intimate knowledge of the availability progression of the thousands of parts that go into making the various models ducati has sold over the last 20 years.  they can only see what ducati say is or is not available.  if italy didn't put a supercession on, that's the end of the trail as far as they can see.  often they put supercessions on that are completely wrong too.  like 916 exhaust valves s/s to st4.  they're different.

as a parts guy at a ducati dealer, I can tell you that Ducati does provide the info on DCS (the Ducati portal for dealers) and  so does lightspeed, the system we and most if not all dealers use to sell/lookup parts.

so yeah, no clue why your guy couldnt find that out, but it is readily available from ducati under its most recent part number  14020143a, $105.99 a piece.

In the past when I've entered numbers into Ducati Omaha's on line if there was a supersession it would say so.

The number the OP gave, and all the numbers I found from earlier models, just came up as number not found.

I assumed there was no replacement listed by Ducati.

no worries, Ducati omaha and Pro italia both are a great resource for part numbers. 99.9% of the time they are accurate enough to get the older part number, which definitely makes my job easier.

But when you get weird hiccups like this example, just call up a dealer and we can (generally) find you an accurate quote for pricing and availability.  even long extinct parts can sometimes be sourced through the dealer network.
